Where are they found?
From the Antarctic Circle to the shores of South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the Gallapagos Islands.
What do they look like?
They have a big head, a short thick neck, a web-shaped tail, webbed feet and tiny flipper-like wings. They weigh about 4kg (9.2 lb.) and are about 63cm (25.6 in.) tall.
How long do they live?
20 – 25 years.
What do they eat?
Fish, squid and crustaceans.
Breeding
They begin breeding at 3 years, although many will not breed until 6 years. |

Are they rare?
Although most species of Antarctic Penguin remain abundant, Humboldt Penguins are classified as vulnerable.
