Below is a selection of education packs for schools, which can be used in conjunction with our Education Talks and Outreach or our Self-Guided Education Trails.
Our education packs are based around the curricular area of environmental studies. Information and learning material has been structured around the animals in the safari park. These packs can be used in the classroom either pre or post visit, and are free to download.

Animal Adaptions Suitable for Primary 3-4 The aim of this topic is to demonstrate how different animals show different adaptations to different environments, whether they be behavioural or physical. A further aim will be to demonstrate how an animal can increase its chances of survival by responding to changes in the environment through adaptation. |

Animal Conservation Suitable for Primary 7 The aim of this topic is to demonstrate that there is a need for animals to be held in captivity for the purposes of conservation through captive breeding programmes. This project aims to develop an awareness of the interaction between living things and their environment. |

Animal Senses Suitable for Primary 1-3 The aim of this topic is to allow the students to discover, name and identify the senses that both the students and the animals use on a daily basis for survival. An understanding of external body parts and their special function within their environment will be gained from this exercise. How animals use their senses to keep safe, find food and communicate are also covered in this project. |

Come to your Senses Suitable for Primary 2-3 The aim of this project is to develop the students understanding of the senses that help animals and students to survive on a day-to-day basis. This activity also points at taking a responsibility for our own health and safety. |

Animal Welfare Suiable for Primary 6-7 Main aims are;To provide understanding of issues that affect different species of both wild animals and those in captivity. To develop children’s basic understanding of welfare and what is involved when dealing with animals. Develop understanding of responsibility and what is right and wrong when caring for animals. |

Design a Wildlife Park Suitable for Primary 6-7 The purpose of this activity is to show students the reasons for the existence of zoos and safari parks in their role as protecting endangered species. This project should also cause students to ask WHY certain animals are living at the safari park. |

Food Chains and Food Webs Suitable for Primary 2-3 The main aim of this project is to develop an understanding of how people and animals feed in the wild and the knock on effects that occur when the food chain is disrupted. Students will gain knowledge of how animals are dependent on the environment in which they live for their food supply. |

Vertebrates Suitable for Primary 4-5 The aim of this topic is to give students the knowledge and skills to differentiate between members of the same vertebrate group. Students will be able to recognise some of the more obvious distinguishing external features of the five vertebrate groups. |
