Blair Drummond offer a range of education sessions, that have been designed to work in line with
the
Curriculum for Excellence. These are available for school groups and can be adapted to suit
most ages and learning abilities.

Guided Walks

One of our Education Team will meet you on arrival and discuss your itinerary.

We currently offer the following topics for guided walks:

Colours and Pattern         (Primary 1-3)

Animal Adaptations         (Primary 3-7)

Animals at Risk                (All ages) 

Enclosure Design             (Primary 6+)


Walks last approximately 2 hours and there is a charge of £1 per pupil. 

Enrichment Workshop

Enrichment plays a major role is zoos and safari parks today.  Groups will design and implement an enrichment  device for the animals.  The session will last 1 hour and can only be offered to groups of 10-25 pupils and charged at an extra £1.50 per pupil.



Touch Table 

We can set up a touch table to enhance your visit, giving groups a sensory session. Pupils will have the opportunity to handle artefacts, such as elephant tusks, rhino horns and furs. 

Charged at £10 per group.



Outreach Sessions

A memeber of our education team can visit your school to talk about any of the above topics.  This is charged at £1.50 per pupil plus mileage at 40p per mile.

Fur, Feathers, Skin and Scales
An interactive introduction to the basis of animal classification by observing similarities and differences between animals. Suitable for Primary 1-3.
Animals at Risk
An introduction to endangered animals and the dangers they face.  Can be adapted to suit all age groups.
Adaptations
Discover how animals stay alive in different habitats.   Suitable for Primary 4-6
Working in a Safari Park
Learn what happens behind the scenes at the Safari Park. Great for all ages to help decide if working with animals is the career for them.

Outreach Sessions will be offered to a maximum radius of 60 miles from the park.

Outreach Sessions are a maximum duration of 3 hours visit.


When booking any education services you are advised to give us at least 3 weeks notice.  We can tailorany of these activites to a topic of your choice.
