Beginning Falconry, Lantra approved award - we deliver the training and assesment for the Lantra award. The course is inclusive of the assessment and the successful candidates will receive a Lantra certificate in Beginning Falconry.

Lantra's "Beginning Falconry" has been developed in response to the new Wildlife and Countryside Act 2008. This award is recognised by the government. It is seen as  the only meaningful certificate in falconry this country has and is recognised by breeders and sellers of birds. The award is fast becoming an essential requirement for anyone wishing to keep their own bird of prey.
Structure of the Award
The Award is divided into 2 Units.

Unit 1 Bird of Prey Management and Husbandry
Module 1 - Housing
Module 2 - Hygiene
Module 3 - Feeding and Food Preparation
Module 4 - Health

Unit 2 Basic Falconry Techniques
Module 5 - Species Suitability and Legislation.
Module 6 - Purchasing Your First Bird
Module 7 - Essential Equipment
Module 8 - Picking Up and Carrying
Module 9 - Feeding and Manning
Module 10 - Weighing and Weight Management
Module 11 - Flying to the Fist on a Line or Creance

Duration 5 days; 4 days training and folio completion,1 day assessment.

£400 - Includes 2 Instruction Books

1. Please select which activity you would like to purchase and in what quantities.

2. After purchasing the activity we will send out the voucher to the given address.

3. Once the voucher is received please call the Bird of Prey Centre on 01786 842422 to confirm availability of the dates you wish to Reserve your Hawk Walk, Lantra Voucher or Discovery Voucher.

4. Due to our varied schedule, we cannot always offer the dates you may wish to book a Bird of Prey experience. Vouchers are valid for 12months from the purchase date.
