Swimming with Sea Lions
29th June 2009
The four California sea lions, Bella, Bali, Poppy and Lola, at Blair Drummond are trained daily by their keepers. Training not only gives the sea lions’ lots of good exercise but also keeps these intelligent animals mentally stimulated, thus acting as a form of enrichment. Recently the sea lion keepers have started to train them slightly differently during some of the sessions however...MORE>

Windswept and Interesting
22nd May 2009
Blair Drummond’s keepers are constantly coming up with new ideas to improve our animals’ enclosures and recently there have been a few upgrades to the African Savannah elephant enclosure. My 12 year old twin daughters visited on 24-06-09 on a school trip. They really enjoyed themselves and were so excited to see a deer giving birth. They took some lovely photos. |

I just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know that I enjoyed my day as a zookeeper enormously. I had no idea I would be allowed so close to the animals (especially the lions!!), and the whole day was beyond my expectations. Ben was a perfect host all day long, and could not have been more helpful.
Please pass on my thanks and regards to your colleagues, and rest assured I will be recommending this as an experience to any animal lover.
Thanks again,
Eileen
