This scheme is aimed at students aged 14-17 studying at a high school level. Students should have an interest in animal care and welfare or be looking to explore this type of work as a career. We understand that work experience is hard to gain at a young age and voluntary work can be a long term commitment, and so Safari School is designed to give students the opportunity to be inspired by working within the zoo environment.Safari School has been built to suit all learning abilities (we also cater for additional support needs- please email for more information) and help students understand the important underlying concepts which accompany practical aspects of the role. The course includes the following:
- Animal husbandry
- Animal health
- Enclosure design
Students will also complete a portfolio of their journey through Safari School. This can be used as reference to their time spent at the park and may also provide supporting information in applications for further education. All students will receive a certificate of completion and a complimentary t-shirt upon graduation from the course.
Graduation will take place on the Friday afternoon and each student will receive two tickets for guests to attend the ceremony. Students and their guests are welcome to spend the remainder of the day exploring the park after completion of the graduation ceremony.
