Apart from our catering vacancies where the minimum age is 16, for all other positions you need to be at least 18 years of age.
Boat drivers required to take our visitors around Chimp Island. Our boat rides round Chimp Island are very popular so we need someone who can interact and communicate well with our visitors. The successful applicants will attend a five day training course at the Safari Park which will include water safety and fire fighting. Please note that a medical will also be required.
Cleaners required to attend to public and staff toilets including baby changing rooms etc. Will also be required to clean staff offices, staff canteen and various other tasks as required including window cleaning. previous experience would be helpful but is not essential as full training will be given.
General Park Assistants
Must be hardworking, observant, enthusiastic and confident individual who will ensure a high standard of presentation is achieved throughout the park at all times. Must be able to work on your own or as part of a team. Duties will include litter picking, grass cutting, general cleaning, sweeping and emptying bins. You may also be working in the animal reserves at the entrance gates checking and supervising vehicles as they pass through the reserves. A full clean driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
Ticket Office/Retail Assistants
As a cashier working within our ticket office you will be the friendly and welcoming face of Blair Drummond Safari Park as visitors arrive at the park. You may also be required to assist in our retail outlets and duties here would include cash handling, stock replenishment and ensuring the shops are maintained to a high standard at all times.
We need friendly and outgoing individuals who can relate well to children. An artistic background would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be given.
Previous experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be given. An elementary food hygiene certificate would be an advantage. We have several catering outlets within the Safari Park including the main restaurant. Duties would include managing a small team and overseeing the smooth running of the department. Cash handling, stock control and maintaining the outlet to the highest standard as well as giving visitors the best customer service is an essential part of the job.
You will be required to run a busy restaurant preparing high quality wholesome food. Previous experience is essential as is an elementary food hygiene certificate. Applicants must be team players and be able to lead by example, have excellent standards and work well under pressure.
The successful candidates will have a friendly and outgoing disposition and will be working in one of our catering outlets within the park. Duties will include clearing tables, serving visitors hot/cold food and drinks and other general duties as required.
Working within a busy kitchen environment you will be assisting the cooks in food preparation, washing dishes and other general duties as required. An elementary food hygiene would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the outside areas of all the catering departments, small maintenance jobs/replenishing the vending machines/assisting with the stores and compacting cardboard. This is a full time seasonal position and will involve working weekends when required. A clean driving licence is essential.
ANIMAL PRESENTER- BIRD DEPARTMENT
Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park is situated midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh just four miles from Stirling. We are a small privately owned Safari Park of 125 acres holding 70 species of animals.
We currently have a vacancy for a full time bird presenter to work within our bird section and manage a diverse collection of birds i.e. raven, caracara, falcons, eagles that are flown in daily presentations for our visitors during open season.
Training of all the birds for high impact and dynamic presentations.
Maintaining a high standard of health and welfare of the birds
Accurate record keeping and monitoring of the birds.
Daily husbandry duties within the section.
Training and development of staff within the department
Maintaining health & safety of staff and visitors.
Promote the safari park and its attributes to the visiting public.
Key Skill & Requirement
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a bird keeper with developed skills to fly birds using different techniques. Must be enthusiastic, high performing and motivated with a proven track record in zoo animal management. Good team worker with a positive outlook and excellent communication skills Commitment to continued professional development of yourself and other staff Previous experience of supervising and training staff Zoo keeping experience and a relevant animal-related qualification
Flexible working is essential and includes weekends and Bank holidays on a rota system.
Salary is negotiable depending on experience and to be reviewed after 6 months, a full clean driving licence is essential.
