We are open for the 2019 season from the 23rd March until the 27th October and we are looking to recruit for the positions below:

 

General Park Assistants

Must be hardworking, observant, enthusiastic and confident individual who will ensure a high standard of presentation is achieved throughout the park at all times.   Must be able to work on your own or as part of a team.   

Duties will include litter picking, grass cutting, general cleaning, sweeping and emptying bins.   You may also be working in the animal reserves at the entrance gates checking and supervising vehicles as they pass through the reserves. 

A full clean driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

Catering Supervisors

Previous experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be given. An elementary food hygiene certificate would be an advantage. 

We have several catering outlets within the Park including the main restaurant. Duties would include managing a small team and overseeing the smooth running of the department.  Cash handling,stock control and maintaining the outlet to the highest standard as well as giving visitors the best customer service is an essential part of the job.

Chefs

You will be required to run a busy restaurant preparing high quality wholesome food. 

Previous experience is essential as is an elementary food hygiene certificate.  Applicants must be team players and be able to lead by example, have excellent standards and work well under pressure.

Catering Assistants

The successful candidates will have a friendly and outgoing disposition and will be working in one of our catering outlets within the park. 

Duties will include clearing tables, serving visitors hot/cold food and drinks and other general duties as required.

Kitchen Porters

Working within a busy kitchen environment you will be assisting the cooks in food preparation, washing dishes and other general duties as required. 

An elementary food hygiene would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.

General Catering Assistants

We need someone who can turn their hand to most things.  Someone who will take pride in their work.  You may be required to do some weeding, litterpicking or painting for example as well as keeping an eye on the cleanliness and tidiness of our catering outlets as well as the main restaurant both inside and outside.   

Attention to detail will be very import in this role.

Amusement Assistants

We need friendly, outgoing and confident individuals who will be responsible for queue monitoring,checking height restrictions and ride operation for our attractions which include dodgems, astroglide, flying fox and pedaloes.   

As part of the amusements team you may be asked to don an animal mascot outfit to entertain visitors on busy days.

Cleaners

The successful applicants will maintain the park’s high standards of cleanliness at all times.     Duties will include cleaning staff and public toilets,  windows, offices and general cleaning as and where required.

Cashiers

As a cashier working within our ticket office you will be the friendly and welcoming face of Blair Drummond Safari Park as visitors arrive at the park.   You may also be required to work in our shops where duties would include cash handling, stock replenishment and ensuring shops are maintained to a high standard at all times.   

A willingness to be trained in the art of facepainting would be an advantage in order to give us more flexibility within the department.      Full training will be given in all aspects of these positions.

Facepainting

We are looking for friendly and outgoing individuals who can relate well to children.   

An artistic background would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be given.   A willingness to be trained as a cashier would  be an advantage and help give us more flexibility in the department.

SEASONAL BIRD TRAINER/PRESENTER

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Bird of Prey presentation team. The successful applicant will deliver exciting and educational flying demonstrations. 

The successful candidate will apply high standards of raptor care and husbandry, be competent in training and flying a variety of raptors including falcons, fish eagles and vultures whilst providing a fun and informative commentary. The successful candidate will be working in a small team and may occasionally be required to assist with other keeping duties and maintenance tasks across the park 

Only candidates with the necessary skills will be considered for an interview and prior to any job offer will have to demonstrate their bird handling and flying skills. 

This is a seasonal position until 27th October 2019 and salary will be negotiable.

SEASONAL MARKETING AND EVENTS ASSISTANTS

The opportunity has arisen  to join our marketing team as a Marketing and Events Assistant.   This is a fixed term position from March until October 2019.

The Marketing & Events Assistant will work as part of a team on the delivery of our successful events programme and will assist the Marketing Manager with promotions both in and outside the park.  Duties will include:

  • assisting with event planning and evaluation
  • supervising small teams of staff and contractors during the set up and delivery of safari park events
  • leading the delivery of event activities such as arts & crafts and bio-fact touch tables
  • managing promotional activity at external events such as agricultural shows and in shopping centres
  • managing the delivery of temporary promotions within the safari park

This an ideal opportunity for a student in their penultimate or final year as an industry placement, or a recent graduate looking to gain practical experience in event management, tourism or marketing.  Qualifications are not essential and we would welcome applications from able candidates with suitable experience.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the requirements of the role.  Prepared to be flexible, work hard and learn on the job, you will be reliable, trustworthy, interested in animals and conservation, able to work with children ...and happy to wear fancy dress.  We’re looking for somebody who’s got the ability to supervise and make sensible decisions, but also happy to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.  

Salary meets the national minimum/living wage.

A full driving licence is a necessary requirement for this position.

Hours flexible.   Ideally we will recruit two members of staff on a minimum 20 hour contract, or one full time.  Weekend working essential.
