On the 29th of February, we welcomed a brand-new addition to our family.  Peter, a 32-year-old chimpanzee, has joined us all the way from Twycross Zoo.

However, as much as we’re eager to integrate Peter into our troop alongside our resident chimps, Chippie and Gill, we understand the importance of ensuring a smooth transition for everyone involved.

To ensure Peter’s comfort and the harmony of our chimp family, we’ve designed a carefully structured 5-step phased introduction programme. These steps are behaviour-oriented rather than time-based, allowing us to gauge progress and ensure each milestone is met before moving forward.

Given the sensitive nature of introducing new members to our troop, we’ve decided to delay a full announcement of Peter’s arrival for the time being. We believe this approach will afford Peter the necessary time and space to settle in at his own pace.

Introducing chimps can be a complex process, requiring patience and strict safety protocols. Rest assured, we’re committed to managing this transition with the utmost care and consideration. We’re optimistic that with time, Peter will comfortably integrate and enrich the dynamics of our troop.

We invite you to stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates on Peter’s journey with us. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm as we embark on this exciting new chapter together!
