Celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day

1 September 2023

Mark your calendars for September 2nd and 3rd as we come together to celebrate an often-overlooked marvel of the animal kingdom: the humble vulture! This special occasion aims to shed light on these remarkable creatures, sometimes referred to as nature’s cleanup crew thanks to their vital role in cleaning up the environment.

Our enthusiastic bird team will be on hand to engage you in enlightening conversations about all things vulture. They’ll be there to share captivating facts and amusing anecdotes about these extraordinary beings, and hopefully win over some hearts and minds!   Come along and find out more about our resident hooded vulture Kevin, the star of our renowned flying displays.

We’ve also got a bunch of exciting activities to keep you entertained in our iconic Blair Drummond gazebo. Unleash your creativity with vulture-themed colouring sheets and engaging interactive games. Can you accurately guess the weight of our magnificent birds?

And here’s an incredible opportunity: you might even be in with the chance to fly Kevin himself! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity you won’t want to miss.

So, swoop by the Bird of Prey Centre if you’re planning a visit to the park this weekend. Join us for an unforgettable celebration that promises laughter, learning, and a newfound appreciation for these marvellous and often misunderstood animals.
