Safari Park announces death of sea lion

We are sad to announce that our beautiful Californian sea lion, Bali, passed away on Monday 13th January.

Bali was 26 years old.  She arrived at the Safari Park in 2004 and was very popular with our staff, volunteers, members and visitors.

Vet Alasdair Smith from Struthers and Scott said:

“Bali was a very elderly animal and had been suffering from age-related health issues for some time.

Taking into account her quality of life and wellbeing, we took the decision to euthanise Bali to ensure that she did not suffer.”

There are three sea lions at Blair Drummond Safari Park.  Visitors can learn more about the care of these animals in our sea lion presentations, which take place every day during our open season.
