To help you find your way around our site and answer any questions you may have, we have put together a list of frequently asked questions and answers.
Q1 What are the park opening times?
For the 2017 season, the park is open daily from 10:00am - 5:30pm until Sunday 29th October. Last entry is at 4:30pm.
Q2 Where can I find prices for coach bookings?
We have discounted rates for coach groups of 15 people or more and you can now make a booking online. For information click here.
Q3 Do you cater for children's birthday parties?
Yes! You can hold your child's birthday party in one of our yurts. Birthday parties are for children aged up to 10 and must be pre-booked. There is a minimum of 10 children per party, with two accompanying adults priced at £10.00 each (entry only). For subsequent adults the normal ticket price applies.
The yurt birthday experience is £18.10 per child and includes:
- Entrance to the park for the day
- Choice of hot menu or kiddie birthday box (birthday cake is not provided)
- Goodie bag
- A free balloon and a visit from the Safari Mascot who will hand out the party bags
- Vouchers for 2 amusement rides for each child - choose from: Carousel, Cups & Saucers, Dragon Train, Aeroplane Ride, Bouncy Castle & Dodgems (height restriction will apply for the Dodgems)
Q4 What can we do at the park?
A visit to the park combines a mixture of things, such as driving through animal reserves, walking through Pets' Farm, playing in one of the many adventure areas, taking in the Sea Lion presentations and Falconry displays, catching the boat around Chimp Island, and visiting Lemur Land.
There is a designated BBQ area and various picnic sites around the park. There is also a restaurant with 2 snack bars selling sandwiches, tea/coffee, soft drinks, ice-cream etc.
We recommend at least 3-4 hrs to visit the park but many of our visitors spend the whole day with us to take full benefit of all that we have to offer.
Sea lion show times:12pm, 1:30pm, 3pm, 4:30pm
Bird of Prey show times:11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm
NB These times may vary so please check at the park on the day of your visit.
Q5 How safe is the drive through and do monkeys damage your car?
Cars are taken through at your own risk, but there is the option to bypass the monkey drive through.
Q6 What if I don't have transport?
If you arrive at the park by public transport, we have a safari bus that can take you round the animal reserves free of charge. This facility is only for people who do not have their own transport.
Q7 Are convertible cars and pick up trucks allowed in the park?
Convertible cars and pickup trucks are allowed in the park, but not allowed in the drive-through animal reserves due to safety reasons. The Safari Bus is available to take occupants of convertibles and open topped trucks around the reserves.

Q9 What catering facilities are available?
Our restaurant provides a wide range of foods to cater for most tastes. They can provide for special diets if given enough notice. Please contact Donald directly at the restaurant on 01786 843118 for more information on booking group lunches and birthday parties.
We also have BBQ facilities that are available every day free of charge, but you cannot pre-book BBQ's as they are provided on a first come, first served basis each day.
Q10 Are gift vouchers available?
We offer Gift Vouchers, Seasonal Membership, Animal Adoptions, Bird of Prey Vouchers, Keeper for a Day and other animal experiences/encounters. For more information please see the website or contact our office on 01786 843109.
Q11 What age group is the park aimed at?
We have designed the park to be as accessible and enjoyable for all ages. There is plenty to do for both the young (pirate ships, dodgems, giant astra glide) and the slightly older (tea and scones, animal drive-throughs, sea lion presentations). It is a good day out for all the family and don't think you'll be disappointed!
Q12 Is there accommodation nearby?
There are a selection of hotels and other local attractions that we recommend. For more information on these please search online.
Q13 How do we get to the park?
We are an hour away from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Take junction 10 off the M9 and the park is well signed from there.
Q14 Are dogs allowed in the park and do you have kennels?
Dogs are not allowed in the park but we do provide kennels subject to a £1.00 refundable deposit. The kennels are situated on the right hand side before the Ticket Office.
Q15 Is there a student discount?
Yes, there is a discount for students on production of a current matriculation card.
Q16 Are brochures available?
We have a full colour brochure that you can buy online, or on the day when you enter the park or at our shops. It costs £3.50 and gives information of the animals in the park and the history of the estate the park sits on, plus activity pages and stickers for children.
Q17 Can you reserve picnic areas?
You cannot reserve picnic areas. The park is set in 120 acres so there is plenty of space for everyone! There are designated areas where you can lay a rug out on the grass or use one of our many picnic tables and benches.
Q18 Are education packs available?
Education packs are available and can be downloaded from the education section of the website. Please note that you will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer.
Q19 What attractions are available and included in the ticket price?
Included in the ticket price are:
- Sea lion presentations
- Falconry displays
- Giant Astraglide
- Kids' adventure fort playground and pirate ship
- Regular boat trips around Chimp Island
- Pets' Farm and Lemur Land
- And a wide array of other exotic and interesting animals!
Q20 What animals are on show?
We have a wide variety of animals. Read all about them before your visit.
Q21 Is there disabled access/facilities?
We have ample facilities for our disabled customers including disabled toilets and ramps to viewing areas. Wheelchair hire is available by calling 01786 841430. There are also 3 baby changing facilities at the park. Please note: there is no wheelchair access on the safari boats.
Q22 Do you provide pictures of the animals?
Yes, if you require pictures for both private and commercial use.
Q23 Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, all major credit cards (except American Express) are accepted.An ATM facility is available in the restaurant foyer.
Q24 Do you accept ASVA cards?
Yes, we accept 2 ASVA cards per vehicle (adult use only).
